Hot! Pregnancy Update 33 Weeks

Another week in the life of the preggo and this preggo is getting big! But from the 3D scan I had yesterday, it is apparently all baby! There is good and bad news from the scan. The good news is that my placenta has moved up so I can have a natural birth. The bad news is that the baby’s head is about 30cm round – yes, ouch!

I think I have been leaning towards having a cesarean. I’ve never been one to have a high pain threshold for starters. Plus you hear the horror stories including forceps delivery and the baby’s head coming out in a funny shape, not to mention the obvious stories about ripping. Having said that, the cons of a cesarean are there as well such as the 6 weeks that you can’t lift heavy things or drive a car. The pro about having a cesarean is that you get given a date for when it will all take place. You know me, I like to be able to plan! It also means that I can give my parents a date so they can drive the 10+ hours up from down south to be here for the baby’s arrival. Either way, it will be what it will be. I guess what I don’t want is to do both. I don’t want to start with natural and going through the drama to be told that I must have an emergency cesarean. But these things are not predictable so we just have to go with the flow.

How big is the baby: From what the books say, bub is about 2.1kg (2,100 grams or 4 lbs 10 oz) and measures about 45 cm in length (17.75 inches). But in reality, what the official 3D scan results this week say is that she is about 2,698 grams (just bordering 6lb!). Prediction is that if she goes full term she will be an 8 pounder! Based on her physical size right now, she is about 2 weeks and 2 days ahead of where she should be (awe an advanced child already!). Her foot is almost 7cm long (must take after mummy as I have big feet!).

Sickness: I’ve been getting over the last niggles of my cold and what a doozie it has been. I coughed earlier this week and pulled something in my back which gave me back spasms for a few days. I think my cold is on its last legs right now, just have the occasional cough and clearing of the throat left now. Hopefully I will be back to my fighting fit self very soon.

Movement: With space getting limited in my tummy, bub’s movements seem to have moved up a notch. We watch her moving around at night while we are sitting on the lounge. Her head is down, spine is running up my right side and feet are dangling over my left hand side.

Sleep: I’ve been getting much better sleep and having very little insomnia which is great. Maybe I’m just exhausted from the no sleep I was getting while I had my cold. With only two sleeping positions to choose from (left or right side), I am looking forward to being able to lay on my tummy again once the baby is out.

Cravings: No cravings…isn’t it funny how I used to want to maim people in order to satisfy my cravings and all of a sudden I desire nothing in particular. I’m still enjoying breakfast foods. Clint usually makes a cheesy scrambled egg with hash browns for breakfast every morning and then I graze during the day on cereal such as porridge, weetbix or this really yummy one I bought which has lots of grains and nuts in it. I also don’t mind a blueberry bagel toasted with some light cream cheese or banana sliced into vanilla custard.

What did you buy this week: To be honest I have barely left the house this week as i’ve been so busy working on my business so I have officially purchased nothing at all. I’m actually starting to wonder if the baby will be too big for the 0000 clothes we have bought!

Highlight of the Week: Having another 3D scan. Check out this cute pic (well, as cute as a 3D scan can be!). Yes, she is a chubby one!

What we’re looking forward to: The arrival of bub. Clint was asking this week (in an impatient voice) “when’s [name] going to get here!” It really could be any time now. It’s all just a waiting game from here on in!

Have fun!
