Hot! Pregnancy Update 20 Weeks

Here’s the latest on the pregnancy. Sorry the pic isn’t a side on view but for some reason the one I took has me blinking so at least you now get to see the watermelon view of my tummy. For those that know me personally and also know I have never had much up top…check out my rack…how exciting!!

Thank you for all the messages of congratulations this week after we announced we were having a girl. I think the funniest thing so far is that my interstate friends who have known me for decades are completely blown away to see me with a tummy, some saying they have even shed a tear. I think everyone (including my mum and me!) are still in disbelief that I am actually pregnant.

How far along: 20 weeks as of Friday gone…can you believe we are half way there!?! It blows us away to think within the next 20 weeks we will be bringing a little person home.

How big is the baby: This week bub is the size of a banana which means it should measure about 22 cm long (8.8 inches) from head to toe and weighs about 340 grams (12 ounces).

Maternity Clothes: I am rocking the maternity jeans now although it is becoming harder to find shirts that cover the tummy. Some days the belly feels really tight, other days not so much.  I am finding it harder to get up when laying down and it’s harder to sit and bend over, especially on what we call “makeover night” when we do footspas!

Sickness: Aside from a bit of indigestion, all is going really well. Maybe it’s the goji juice I have been taking a shot of every morning for the last 3 years! It certainly has stopped me getting a cold since I started :-)

Movement: We think we have been feeling teeny tiny kicks. The first one was when Clint was rubbing bio-oil into my tummy and had his hand resting on it when I felt something inside and he said he could feel something happen in there.

Sleep: Still not sleeping well. Multiple toilet runs at night and really weird dreams…even weirder than the one’s I usually have!

Cravings: I am still stuck on the sausage and egg muffin with a hash brown dipped in tomato sauce…I’m going to have to start going to some rehab centre to get past it! I must say that I have been enjoying a strawberry or two as a snack when I get up during the night for a pee run. Food aversions are creeping up on me. I used to enjoy a good honey chicken with fried rice and now it’s becoming way too sweet for me. I love mexican, now it’s just blah. I love prawn chips, now they taste stale.

Highlight of the Week: The 3D scan and finding out we’re having a girl! Although in a way it was also a low light. You see what we didn’t mention is that the receptionist at the clinic said the technician has been wrong about the gender in the past so it got us wondering if she has picked us wrong, especially since we were so certain it was going to be a boy. They have us coming back for another scan in less than 3 weeks time with another technician so we will be double sure then…as well as have some more 3D pics for your viewing pleasure!

What we’re looking forward to: Shopping for clothes! I was expecting we would be shopping up a storm buying baby clothes by now but we’re too scared to buy anything until we know for sure after our next scan. Being so sure it was going to be a boy, we did risk it and buy a few boy pieces. Thank goodness for ebay!

Have fun!
