Online maternity clothes shopping
With my ever-expanding belly, I have been struggling to find clothes that cover it these days. We’re used to seeing all these yummy mummy pics in the magazines of celebrities looking hot in their ever-increasing maternity wardrobe. Unfortunately, and speaking from my own experience, our income doesn’t allow us to go out and splurge on a new wardrobe to get us through the expanding belly months of pregnancy. I’m not one for wearing big moo moos to hide the tummy, and yet I am not one to wear a midriff to expose it either. I just want to look and feel stylish and pretty.
When my friend Carla was visiting recently, we took to the shops to find a few key maternity items to get me through the pregnancy. I was shocked to find that not many of the stores cater for maternity wear these days and even more shocked that people pointed me to the area of the store for larger women. The only stores that we could find that had a small selection were Target, Pumpkin Patch and Just Jeans.
So I have been living in yoga pants and long T-shirts most days and save my maternity purchases of two pairs of cargo pants and two pairs of jeans for when I am out and about. The cargo pants are from Pumpkin Patch and are sooo comfortable. They have a really nice plush feeling about them. Plus they were on sale when I bought them – gotta love a sale! Both pairs of jeans are from Just Jeans and I am talking about jeans that don’t look like maternity jeans. Most maternity jeans you find have this roll up belly cover and sag in the rear or crutch. These have an expandable waistband and hug your buns perfectly.
We’re catching up with family this weekend for Clint’s sister’s engagement and also my mum’s birthday (a woman never tells her age so I won’t divulge it but let’s just say it’s a milestone one!). It’s the first time any of our family have seen me with the pregnant belly so I thought this called for a party dress. I have had my eye on a dress I saw on Queen Bee. A bit more than what I was wanting to pay so I have been admiring it from afar until Babyology recently promoted a coupon to get a discount from Queen Bee’s Trimester range. Obviously I jumped at the chance to get it.

Yesterday the dress was delivered and I have to say that Queen Bee offer the best customer service I have seen in a long time. Not only did I get next day delivery but it came in this nicely presented pouch with a little note pad along with a post card congratulating me on my pregnancy and offering me a 5% discount for another purchase. As someone who has been in marketing for a couple of decades (yes I am that old!), I was impressed!
As to how I look in the dress, well you will just have to stay tuned to next week when we share the pics from our catch up with our families.
Have fun!
