Meet our extended family
With our jungle of a back yard and the fact we also back onto parkland, we tend to get a lot of wild life visiting us. Some of them, like the beautiful birds are very welcome. Some of them, like the huntsman the size of my hand (that I maimed last week), are not.
We have a very large tree that looks like it is dead and we would love to get rid of it but it seems it is the perch for the neighbourhood birds. As I work from home, people often hear the kookaburras laughing in the background while I am on telephone meetings. One kookaburra family have in fact moved in. We have an old ant nest in the big dead tree and they have made their nest in it. So I am thinking we might have little ones in the very near future. They often come and sit on the window ledge at the kitchen or the balcony…here’s one of the family members:
We also have a blue tongue lizard that comes out to sun himself during the day:
The first time I saw his head pop out from the bushes I thought it was a snake!
Well any more nature and we will have to start calling this website The Doolittles DIY Dream!
Have fun!
Michelle
