Hot! Get your organization freak on

Being an anal retentive Virgo, I love being organised. I am known amongst my friends as “the organisational queen” or “Martha Stewart on acid”. Give me a list that I can check things off. Give me boxes with labels on them. Give me colour coordinated wardrobes. Yes folks, I thrive on it! As always, I am sure I could be even more organised so I love to spend time looking for new ways improve what systems I currently have in place. Today, for your viewing pleasure, I wanted to share some of my favourites with you.

Menu Planning

If you are tired of staring at the freezer with a blank expression on your face then this little system is for you.  I would so love to have that much time on my hands to put this together…it’s definately on the list of “things I would like to do on a rainy day when I have nothing else occupying my time”. Not only is it so well organised but it looks gorgeous! If you want to read more about this little beauty, check out Megan’s site The Homes I Have Made. She also has a tutorial to teach you how to make it.

Photo Organising

I remember growing up that my mum kept various photo albums. We had one for each holiday, family albums and my brother and I had one each for our own photos.  Then I came across this idea and thought how brilliant!  For more details, check out Jen’s website A Thousand Words.

Linen Organisation

If there is something I love just as much as being organised, it would be linen. Maybe it stems from my days when I used to stay in 5 star hotels for work and enjoy the luxury of clean sheets and fluffy towels. So if you have a lot of sheet sets and you want to keep them nice and tidy, what about folding your pillow slips around the sheet sets so tat you know what goes with what. You could also put little tags on the shelf to denote queen size or single etc.

Keeping Organised with Kids

If you are heading out with the kids for the day, say to the beach, wouldn’t it be good to have a pack already made up with sun lotions etc. What about a pack of kids activities that you could grab to take with you? Well, here’s the solution. These little packs that you can slip into a bag as you run out the door.

Traveling with Kids

With a little one on the way, I am already searching for ideas on how to get them into my organisation routines. I found this idea which would help young ones who are maybe starting to dress themselves or already dressing themselves. It’s for when you are travelling. You basically coordinate a whole outfit, pop it into a zip lock bag and pack it into the suitcase. Then while you are on holidays, your child can pick what they want to where that day and everything they need is in the one zip lock bag. Brilliant! You can read more about Kim’s idea at her website All Things Simple…she’s got plenty of other tips for traveling with kids.

Phew! I am completely in organisation heaven now!

Have fun!
