Amusement on a wet Sunday
We had horrible weather for the long weekend just gone. One of the things I used to enjoy doing with my mum on crappy weather days was visiting a display home village and looking at the houses. We would wander around and sometimes joke as if we lived there. “Would you like a cup of tea?” I would ask mum as we stood in the kitchen. The added bonus of visiting a display home village is that you get so many new ideas, especially for decorating.
So to Clint’s horror, I recently discovered that Queensland’s biggest display village had opened up just 30 minutes drive from our house. With the weather being so crappy, I convinced Clint that we had nothing better to do than to go and check out the homes on display (I omitted the fact that there were 52 of them!). It ended up being an enjoyable time, plodding around the Metricon and Plantation homes which are the ones we enjoy looking at the most. I took plenty of photos on my iPhone of ideas for our house (or future houses!). Here’s some of them for your viewing pleasure.
Some ideas for our wall unit in the living room (the second one is our fav!):
We’re thinking of something like this wall and bamboo fence (on a smaller scale!) out the front:
Loving these tiles at the moment. What great colour and shape:
We’re looking for ideas for the colour of our stairs:
Check out the light under this outdoor kitchen island. What a great idea:
My dream kitchen sink and tap for when we get our kitchen redone:
This was a feature wall in an upstairs sitting area but we thought it could make for a nice bedhead (if we ever did The Block!):
Check out this dream walk in robe:
And this is the other side of it:
And this is the bed adjacent (love the shelving!):
Another great idea for a feature wall. Various depths of timber and painted in a charcoal colour:
Lovely floor. I didn’t know if it was real or fake:
Idea for our front verandah:
What a cute room for a little girl:
And check out these great art work ideas using pages from story books:
These dividers are just mdf coated with a 2pac paint:
When we replace our old front door with the new and improved gigantic set we have bought, we won’t be able to have our little hallway table there any more so I am thinking mirrors like this:
What our new walk in pantry could look like (albeit smaller):
We’re thinking about a see through looking swimming pool down the track:
More artwork ideas:
If you loved the styling of these houses then you will love Coco Republic which is who did it all. Ah, if only we could get them to come and do our house!
Have fun!
